Obituary for Vera Marjorie Ludlow (Upward)

Vera Marjorie Ludlow (Upward)
Vera Marjorie Ludlow (nee Upward)
April 28th, 1932 - February 17th, 2017

Mom passed peacefully away in the presence of her family at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday, February 17th, 2017 at the age of 84 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ida (nee Young) Upward; her husband of 60 years, Raymond Frank Ludlow; siblings Pearce, Cyril, Joan and Leslie, and son in law Bill Thornhill. Left with fond and loving memories are her four daughters, Donna (Roy) Folkes of Grand Falls-Windsor, Debbie Lundrigan of Searston, Diane (Craig) Young of Grand Falls-Windsor, and Darlene (Ervin) McCurdy of Corner Brook. Also leaving to mourn, her grandchildren, Angela (Randy) Seaward, Christopher (Ashley) Folkes, Alexandra Young (Kent O’Reilly), Allison Young, and Wayne (Faye) McCurdy; great-grandchildren Evan and Emma Seaward; her sister Vera Joy (Lindy) Goulding; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff and doctors of the Carmelite House and especially Dr. Bautista, for their loving care of Mom during her time there. Mom was a member of Memorial United Church, a longtime member of the church choir, a member of the UCW and an avid “exerciser” and “walker”. She was dedicated to her children and grandchildren and loved them all dearly and unconditionally. Reverend Kim Waite will conduct the funeral service at Memorial United Church on Monday, February 20th, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at the United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roy Folkes, Craig Young, Ervin McCurdy, Christopher Folkes, Lindy Goulding and Eric Sharpe. Honorary pallbearer is Harry Upward. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted, or donations to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Autism Society.
