It is with great sadness that the family of the late Phyllis Ruth Parsons announce her passing at the Miller Centre, St. John’s on February 17/17 at the age of 86 years.
Phyllis is predeceased by her husband Harold Winston David Parsons; her father Cecil Short; mother Beatrice Short (nee Cole); sister Doris Hiscock; brother Edwin Short and granddaughter Chantelle Parsons.
Her life is being lovingly celebrated by her five children-Mary Spencer (Brian) of Springdale, June Pollett (Willie) of St. John’s, Peter Parsons of Springdale, Judy Parsons (Lance) of Milton, NS., and Tammy Parsons (Stephen) of St. John’s; her eight grandchildren-Penny, Chad, Heather, Christina, Jacob, Sarah, Gregory and Justin; and her three (soon to be 4) great grandchildren-Joely, Brynne and Melody together with a wide circle of family and friends.
Besides being an avid knitter, crocheter, reader, cook, baker and quilter, her greatest passion was picking berries; a jam and jelly maker extraordinaire, and was know for her kindness and generosity. Phyllis was a member of the United Church Women, Women’s Institute, Lioness Club and the Hospital Auxillary.
The funeral service will be held at Grace United Church on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Graham Cook officiating with interment at the United Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Penny Spencer, Chad Spencer, Gregory Parsons, Ricky Abbott, Derrick Short and Robert Hiscock.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Women’s Institute, Springdale Branch.
