Obituary for Richard James Power

Richard James Power
Richard James Power
April 30, 1947 - February 18, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Power of West Pond, NL announces his passing at the Springdale Hospital.
Richard was born and raised in St. Patrick’s to his loving parents, Fred and Mildred Power along with his two brothers and five sisters. Even though he was a heavy duty mechanic by trade he spent his whole life working in many different fields throughout various parts of Canada, as well as Ethopia and Kyrgystan. No matter what his job was he quickly became an expert at everything he did. From every job he gained more knowledge and more friends, and every friendship he formed lasted a lifetime.
Richard had a passion for farming and animals his entire life. He acquired some land, and using his dozer and multitude of skills he turned that land into a beautiful farm. Over the years he had a variety of animals including cows, sheep and horses which was his favorite.
15 months ago Richard was diagnosed with cancer and was in for a hard battle. He fought a good fight but on February 18th he lost his battle and passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Richard is predeceased by his parents Fred and Mildred, brothers Edward and Howard, first wife Grace and brother-in-law Ray.
Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, wife Maisie; children Lisa, Tony (Anita), Dean (Angelique), Jaime (Morgan), Ashley (James), and Samantha (Michael); Grandchildren-Travis, Stephanie, Brandon (Toni Marie), Shania (Jordan), Nicholas, Cody, Kelli, and Xavier; Great-grandchildren Carter and Peyton; Sisters– Marion (Harold), Madeline, Shirley, Rita Mae (John), Betty (Tony) ; Sister-in-law Marion Locke; Goddaughter Megan; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The things we will remember the most about Richard are his smile, his sense of humor, his wealth of knowledge which he loved to share, his love which he gave unconditionally, and his ability to form long lasting friendships. Whenever his name is spoken by his friends and coworkers the word that always comes up is respect. Everyone that had the priviledge of knowing him loved and respected him.
