Obituary for Bramwell George Rice

Bramwell George Rice

Bram was born to Sydney and Emma Rice, July 13, 1929, at Pilley’s Island, one of 6 children.

He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Leonard and Selby, sisters Olive and Mable, daughter Karen and son Wayne.
Left with loving memories are his wife Margaret,, daughters Lt. Colonel Myra Pritchett (Wayne), Port Hope, Ontario, and Lt. Colonel Sandra Rice, Toronto, Ontario, grandchildren Lori Miller (Tony), Rodney Pritchett (Karoline), Philip Rice (Benita), David Pritchett, Angela Stayner (Geoff), Kathryn Sanderson (Scott), great-grandchildren Anthony (Sarah), Adam, Brendon, Taylor, Kayla, Brooke, Cassie, Lilly, Sarah, and Cameron, daughter-in-law Gail Rice, sister Marie Maye, sister-in-law Doreen Anthony, nieces and nephews, and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Bram was a hard worker, entering the workforce in his early teens as a cooks’ helper on a fishing schooner to the Labrador. He was well known for his work ethic, integrity, and encouragement. For most of his life Bram worked as a cook in the logging camps, on construction sites and on the sea, which he loved most of all, as this was an opportunity to meet and extend warm hospitality, often offering a delicious bowl of soup or “cut of pie” and lively conversation.

The joy of his life was his family. He was a loving and faithful family man, married to Margaret for 67 years, and he took every opportunity to brag about his children, grandchildren &
great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his love of singing, sharing stories from his travel and adventure experiences, his influential concern and care for all, and for his deep commitment to his family, his church, where he served as Corps Sergeant Major at The Salvation Army in Robert's Arm for almost 15 years, his community, and above all, to his Lord. Well done, good and faithful servant!

Funeral service will be held at The Salvation Army, Robert's Arm Corps on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2 PM. Interment will be at "The Dock" (Pilley's Island Cemetery). Officiating will be Major Lindsay Oxford and Lieut. Colonel Wayne Pritchett.

Pallbearers are Philip Rice, Rodney Pritchett, David Pritchett, Anthony Miller, Adam Miller, and Tony Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are Lori Miller, Angela Stayner, and Kathryn Sanderson.
