The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Jasper Lake can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: Marion, Sharon, Janet, and Jeffrey: I want to tell you how very saddened I am about Jip's (Mr. Lake to me)passing. Always quiet, gentle, and kind he was the type of person that when he did speak, one listened. I remember well those years where our families were intertwined both in Grand Falls and in Kingsport. I can still here Mom, Marion, and Joan saying "now, the men will be back soon so it's time to go up" (you'll know what I mean). I know my own desire to tell stories and jokes and laugh until I lose my breath was influenced by hearing you parents do this during parties, bridge night and any time you all got together. I will never forget my time in Grand Falls and in Kingsport and you can be sure that any time I reflect on those years, all of you will be in my thoughts. I'd like to think a bit of a reunion happened on May 24th as "life-long friends and crowd circle are greeting him." My love and prayers to all of you. Jill

Condolence: Dear Lake Family,

These times always evoke memories of days past. We kids pretty much grew up together in Kingsport , and of course in Grand Falls. It was hard to get to sleep when your group was around. With an ear to the door I listened to everything I could hoping to hear a juicy tidbit, or two. There certainly were many laughs and stories worth repeating.
My two favorite memories ; Jannie, Pammie Lakeo and checha nonie ever googie.
Jasper's obituary was so tender and warm. It really embraced who he was as a professional, private and Christian man. How lucky were we all to have him in our lives and to have his example as children?
May your fond memories and family moments sustain you all during this very sad time. You have lost a warm and loving man. May he be united with his comrades who went before him.

Lynne

Condolence: Hello Marion, Sharon, and Janie Pamie Lakeo, and Family.
My oh my,
I was saddened to hear of Jip's passing a moment ago,and I want to send my sincere sympathy to you all.
My parents and you and Jip, Marion, had a lot of wonderful times together in Grand Falls and Kingsport N.S. over the years, and I know they always enjoyed seeing you both coming because it was sure to be a good time, with lots of good food, stories and laughs.
Marion, you and Mom and Joan Penney used to get hysterical sometimes you laughed so hard, and it so affected the rest of us that everyone was laughing and we thought we'd never stop.Great times.
Indeed, it was better than a concert,as they say.
Great memories with you both.
Cherish his memory and remember, you will meet again on that other shore.
Jasper was a good man,a solid man, who helped a lot of people in their quest for a good education.
May God Bless you in your hour of grief and
I am sure the Lord will Love him as much as you did.
Sincerely.
Frank.

Condolence: Marion and family: I was truly saddened when I learned your loved one had crossed the bar.
Fifty-six years ago I met Mr. Lake who was then the Supervising Principal at Bishops Falls, when I taught at the Plant School. Jasper was a gentleman and a wonderful mentor. I remember clearly, though I only had six-weeks of training at Summer School, he treated me as respectfully as he did those on staff with much higher qualifications. Jasper truly taught as much, or more, by example as he did in any other way.

He was a good friend, and through the ensuing years we always had a pleasant chat whenever we met, most times at The Salvation Army, Adams Ave., St. Johns. That is where I met him for the last time, around Christmastime 2014, I believe. We were so engrossed in conversation that day he had to be dragged to his pew. I shall always remember those few moments which are still quite clear in my mind.

My wife Amy joins in an expression of deepest sympathy in these days of deep sorrow.

Condolence: Marion, so sorry to hear of Jip's passing. Condolences from our family to yours. I have so many fond memoires of you and Jip along with Uncle Otto and Aunt Olive visiting my parents, and have your tea and bun before you head back home. You would be there for about an hour and Jip would start looking at his watch, "now Marion, we have to leave before it gets dark (of course Marion always made him wait). You have many memories to cherish after all of your years together. God Bless you.
