Linda and Dennis Lush

Mark and the French and Lane families: It was with sadness that we learned of Jocelyn's passing. Having worked with Jocelyn for 15 years at the old Carmanville School Complex (CSC), we have many fond memories of Jocelyn. Dennis remarked that he can't ever remember her being anything but pleasant and jovial at all times and in all situations...and her laugh! It was a constant every single day, her crowning glory, and her hallmark trait. We can all hear it now! I personally owe a debt of gratitude to Jocelyn; she introduced an English teacher to a whole new genre of literature. After undergoing several surgeries back-to-back, Jocelyn always asked Dennis how I was doing and he invariably replied, "Bored to death." She took it upon herself to courier hundreds of books from Carmanville South to Frederickton from her personal library. And she really did have her own library! I still remember making trips to Carmanville South to "check out books" from the Library of Jocelyn. I don' t want to be presumptuous, but I would think that all the staff of CSC would collectively agree regarding our fondest and most notable memory of Jocelyn. After all the famous or infamous Christmas concerts at CSC, the entire staff would wait in anticipation for Jocelyn. It was like waiting for staff room royalty. " Queen Jocelyn" would finally enter, carrying her sceptre: a huge tray of special treats. The laughter and comraderie she engendered made a memory of a lifetime. It has yet to be surpassed in staff room circles. Many young teachers would be privileged to have such an easy-going and understanding colleague. Rest easy, Jocelyn. May you wrap the angels at the gates of heaven in your laughter and they wrap and hold you in their wings. God speed. Linda and Dennis Lush
